The Barcelona world race: a new challenge for Poujoulat

The Cheminées Poujoulat boat arrived last week in Barcelona. Bernard Stamm and Jean Le Cam will take part to the Barcelona World Race starting December, 31st.

Since winning 4th place in the 2013 Jacques Vabre transatlantic race, Bernard Stamm has been busy setting up a new project. The Swiss sailor, two-time winner of the Around Alone race, is getting ready for one of his favourite exercises - a circumnavigation - but this time with a sailing partner. Indeed, on 31 December, he will be taking part in the Barcelona World Race with a certain Jean Le Cam.

Bernard is delighted that Cheminées Poujoulat, the leading European chimney flue manufacturer, has chosen to support him through this new exploit. A four-handed adventure with Jean Le Cam, who he describes as “a cornerstone of ocean racing”.

“Towards the beginning of the year, Jean and I were in the same boat. He was also looking for ways to set up a project of his own. Our decision to join forces was natural. We have got to know each other over the last few months and will no doubt become even closer during the world tour. He’s extremely technical in his work, which I appreciate”, comments Bernard Stamm. “Together, we have covered an incredible number of miles, that’s for sure. Racing as a team will be a truly enriching experience”, states Jean Le Cam.
